Thank you for visiting! This site is done on behalf of the artist - Vova Shishkin, my younger brother. Vova was born in 1991, in Vorkuta, a small industrial city located north of the Arctic Circle. Both sets of our grand-grandparents were sentenced to the Vorkuta labor camps for political reasons during the Stalin's repression back in the late 1930th and that's how our family history started there.
When Vova was 2 years old our family moved to Saint Petersburg, where he resided until he moved to the USA in 2016 to join me - his older sister Katia. Most of the days Vova spends working on his art projects. Being autistic he avoids social gatherings and he is very shy around people, but he loves talking about his art if you ask him. We discovered he has an autism when he was about 5 years old and had challenges with his speech; back then it wasn't a very familiar diagnosis in post-soviet Russia, so our mom had to spend quite bit of time going from one doctor to another trying to find out what's happening. Once the diagnosis was confirmed our family tried to make Vova's life as normal as possible and noticed he really enjoys art and painting and encouraged him to do so. He is now 30 years old and creating art is still his biggest joy (also his car models). He loves life and uses bright colors. Our only concern now is his declining vision - he has invasive stage 3 keratoconus; which made him practically blind in his right eye and the sight in his left eye is also declining. He wears special contact lenses now and his biggest wish is to continue painting as long as he can. He hopes that you will like his art.
Thank you!
